The district of Fatehgarh Sahib is one of Punjab’s twenty-three districts in India. Its capital is the town of Fatehgarh Sahib.
The district was established on Baisakhi Day, April 13, 1992, and got its name from Sahibzada Fateh Singh, the youngest son of the tenth Guru Gobind Singh, who was bricked up alive in 1704 with his brother at the behest of Suba Sirhind, Wazir Khan, and is now the location of the ‘Gurudwara Fatehgarh Sahib’.
It is the second-least populated district in Punjab (out of 22) as of 2011.
