In the Indian state of Punjab, there are twenty-three districts, including Rupnagar. According to legend, a Raja by the name of Rokeshar, who ruled in the eleventh century, named the city Rupnagar after his son Rup Sen. Additionally, an old Indus Valley civilization settlement once stood there. Morinda, Nangal, and Anandpur Sahib are the three main cities in the Rupnagar District. An alternative name for Morinda is Baghwāla, or “[The City] of Gardens.” Morinda may be found along the Chandigarh-Ludhiana route. The Bhakra Dam in Nangal is located near the border with Himachal Pradesh, a neighboring state. Dadhi holds a significant position in the district, mainly due to the presence of Gurudwara Sri Hargobindsar Sahib.
