One of the twenty-three districts that make up the Indian state of Punjab is Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district. It is situated in the Doaba area. It is divided into three subdivisions: Banga, Balachaur, and Nawanshahr. The district has three legislative seats: Banga, Balachaur, and Nawanshahr. They are included in the Lok Sabha Constituency of Anandpur Sahib. The district headquarters, Nawanshahr, is situated roughly 92 kilometers (57 miles) away from Chandigarh, the state capital.

After Barnala and Fatehgarh Sahib, it is the third least populated district in Punjab (out of 22) as of 2011.
