There are 38 districts in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, including Dharmapuri. By dividing from the then-Salem district on October 2, 1965, it became the first district in Tamil Nadu to be established following India’s independence. Dharmapuri District is home to some of the state’s top mango growers and is known for producing high-quality granite. It is also one of the state’s principal belts for sericulture.
