The Indian state of Tamil Nadu contains the industrial and tourism town of Mettur, which is situated in the Salem district. The Mettur Dam, the biggest dam in south India, is the reason it is most well-known.

Mettur is also well-known for producing aluminum, chemicals, and electricity. The Mettur Dam supplies the majority of Tamil Nadu’s irrigation needs with water. Every year in June, the dam opens to allow for irrigation of the Kaveri Delta. Mettur serves as one of Tamil Nadu’s main electrical suppliers as well.
