The Indian state of Telangana has the district known as Warangal, formerly known as Warangal Rural district. The districts of Mahabubabad, Jangaon, Hanamkonda, Mulugu, and Bhupalpally are all bordered by the district.

The district headquarters of the Hanamkonda and Warangal districts will be located in Hanamkonda as of June 2021. It is suggested that Warangal city take Hanamkonda’s place as the Warangal district’s new headquarters.

By dividing the former Warangal district into the Warangal Rural district, the district was created in 2016. The Warangal Rural district was renamed the Warangal district in August 2021. The mandals of Warangal and Khila Warangal are moved to the recently established Warangal district.
