The district of Bhadohi is located in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Another name for it is Sant Ravidas Nagar. It was formed on June 30, 1994, by splitting the western portion of the district Varanasi, making it the smallest district in terms of land in the state of Uttar Pradesh.The districts of Varanasi on the east, Allahabad (now Prayagraj) on the west, Jaunpur on the north, and Mirzapur on the south encircle it. Lucknow, the state capital, is 234 kilometers away from Bhadohi. Its district headquarters is situated in the city of Gyanpur. The district is popularly known for carpet weaving as it is one of largest centres of Carpet Industries in India and therefore it also known as the ‘Carpet City of India’.
