The district headquarters of the 75 districts that make up the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh is the town of Maharajganj. District belongs to the division of Gorakhpur. It is situated in the Himalayan Terai region, bordering Nepal to the north. Several significant rivers pass through the area, including the Gandak, Rapti, and Rohin.
