The northern Indian state of Uttarakhand contains the district of Champawat. The administrative center is located in the town of Champawat. In 1997, the Champawat district was established. The five tehsils that make up the district are Barakot, Lohaghat, Pati, Purnagiri, and Champawat. Two Sub Tehsils exist: Pulla and Munch. Tanakpur is the district’s principal city and largest.
