Alda district is a district in West Bengal, India. It is also known as Maldah or Maldaha (Bengali: [malda], [maldɔ˦], frequently [maldɔ˦o]). West Bengal’s capital city of Kolkata is located 347 kilometers (215 miles) to the north. The district’s most notable goods are silk, jute, and mangos. This area is recognized for producing the unique mango variety known as Fazli, which goes by the district’s name and is exported and highly regarded worldwide. The district’s characteristic is the gombhira folk culture, which has its roots in Malda.
