With its headquarters located in Alipore, South 24 Parganas, also known as South Twenty Four Parganas and Dakshin 24 Parganas, is a district in the Indian state of West Bengal. In terms of size and population, it is West Bengal’s largest district. With 640 districts, it is the sixth most populated district in India. The district is divided between the isolated riverine settlements of the Sundarbans and Kolkata’s urban periphery.
