Located in Northwestern Europe, the Netherlands, also known as Holland colloquially, is a country with territories abroad in the Caribbean. Of the four nations that make up the Kingdom of the Netherlands, it is the largest. The twelve provinces that make up the Netherlands are bordered to the east by Germany, to the south by Belgium, and to the north and west by the North Sea. Its marine borders are shared by Belgium, Germany, and the United Kingdom.[14] In the province of Friesland, West Frisian is the secondary official language, with Dutch being the primary language. In the Caribbean regions, Dutch, English, and Papiamento are recognized as official languages.
