Located on New Zealand’s North Island, Auckland (Māori: Tāmaki Makaurau) is a sizable metropolis. As of June 2023, there are roughly 1,478,800 people living there. There are 1,739,300 people living there as of June 2023. It is part of the larger Auckland Region, which is administered by Auckland Council and consists of the Hauraki Gulf islands and surrounding agricultural regions. It ranks seventh in size in Oceania and has the highest population in New Zealand. Auckland’s population is still primarily European, but in the late 20th century, the city grew multicultural and cosmopolitan, with Asians making up 31% of the city’s population in 2018. its foreign-born citizens The largest population of Polynesians in the world resides in the city, which is also home to a sizable Pasifika community in New Zealand. Tāmaki Makaurau, which translates to “Tāmaki desired by many” in Māori, is the name given to Auckland in reference to its desirable geography and natural resources. “Omen” is what Tāmaki means.
