The capital of the Hawke’s Bay region and a city on the east coast of New Zealand’s North Island is Napier. This coastal city by the sea is well-known for its sunny weather, Norfolk pine-lined promenade, and abundance of Art Deco buildings. The more modern moniker for Napier is “The Art Deco Capital of the World,” yet it is still occasionally used to refer to the city as the “Nice of the Pacific.”
About 67,500 people call Napier home as of June 2023. Hastings is an inland city located around 18 km (11 mi) south of Napier. These two nearby cities in New Zealand are frequently referred to as “The Bay Cities” or “The Twin Cities.”
