The Department of Lima is a department and territory on Peru’s central coast; Huacho serves as the seat of the regional government. Until 1823, it was known as the Department of the Capital (Spanish: Departamento de la Capital).

West of the department is Lima Province, home to the nation’s capital city of Lima. Since 2003, the province has operated independently of the regional government.
