Dukhan is a city in Qatar’s Al-Shahaniya municipality in the west. Doha, the capital, is about 80 kilometers (50 miles) to the west. The first oil find in Qatar was made near Dukhan, which is managed by QatarEnergy, the country’s national oil agency.[3] It was formerly a component of the municipality of Al Rayyan.
The Dukhan Operations Department is in charge of overseeing all industrial activities within the city. To enter the city, one needs a Dukhan entry gate pass, which is a special permit from QatarEnergy. The Dukhan Highway, a four-lane freeway, links the city with Doha and spans around 66 kilometers.
