Romania’s Dobruja historical region includes the harbor city of Constanța. The capital of Constanța County, Constanța is the fourth largest city in the nation and the main port on the Black Sea coast. Founded in 600 BC, it is also one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the region, if not all of Europe.
There are 263,688 people living in Constanța as of the 2021 census. Within 30 kilometers (19 miles) of the city are 14 localities that make up the Constanța metropolitan region. It is among Romania’s biggest urban areas.
