South Africa’s northernmost province is called Limpopo. It takes its name from the Limpopo River, which forms the northern and western boundaries of the province. Lebowakgomo is home to the provincial legislature, whereas Polokwane is the province’s capital and major city.

The province consists of the three former Lebowa, Gazankulu, and Venda homelands.
