Northeastern South Africa is home to the city of Mbombela, formerly known as Nelspruit. The province of Mpumalanga has its capital there. The city, which is situated on the Crocodile River, is roughly 110 kilometers (68 miles) west of the border with Mozambique, 330 kilometers (210 miles) east of Johannesburg, and 82 kilometers (51 miles) north of the border with Eswatini. One of the cities that hosted the 2010 FIFA World Cup was Mbombela.
