The capital of the federal state of Styria in Austria is Graz, which is also the country’s second-biggest city after Vienna. 303,270 people called Graz home as of January 1, 2024. There were 660,238 people living in the larger urban zone (LUZ) of Graz as of 2023. With four colleges and four universities, Graz is regarded as a college and university city. In total, the city accommodates about 60,000 students. One of Central Europe’s best-preserved city centers is Altstadt, the city’s historic center.

The city’s historic district was included on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1999.
