Bahrain’s third-largest city, Muharraq was the country’s capital until 1932, when Manama took its position. In 2020, Muharraq had 263,373 residents.

Situated on Muharraq Island is the city. There’s also Bahrain International Airport on the island. The artificial Amwaj Islands, which are close to Muharraq, are well-known for their expansive structures, hotels, and beaches. Muharraq Club, the most successful football team in Bahrain, is based in Muharraq. The renowned Siyadi House is located there. The city is renowned for its souq, or traditional market, as well as for being the birthplace of traditional music and art; Muharraq is home to the well-known and prosperous Bahraini musician Ali Bahar.
