A small island in India’s Nicobar Islands chain is called Kondul Island.

Past Events
The tsunami of 2004 struck it. The survivors of the tsunami relocated to Great Nicobar. After visiting the island again in 2015, two seniors rebuilt the jetty. Regularly, poachers from Myanmar engage in illicit fishing throughout the island.

Geographical
The island is 1.55 km2 (0.60 sq mi) in size and is situated in the Bay of Bengal, midway between Great Nicobar and Little Nicobar in the St. George’s Channel. Its dimensions are 2.6 km long and 0.95 km wide at its widest point.
