The Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh contains the administrative district known as Lohit. Tezu is home to the district headquarters. After Papum Pare and Changlang, it is the third most populous district in Arunachal Pradesh as of 2011.

Meaning and Origin
It was formerly referred to as the Mishmi Hills. The district, which gets its name from the Lohit River, is made up of the river valley on the north and south, and hills and mountains on the north.
