Danapur is an Indian satellite town and one of the six Tehsils (subdivisions) in the state of Bihar’s Patna district. 182,241 people were counted in the 2011 India Census. The Patna Metropolitan Region includes it.] It was established in 1887 as a municipality. Danapur serves as both a refuge and a hatchery for the Siberian cranes that migrate, known locally as Janhgil. They come here annually for breeding during the monsoon season and depart before the winter months arrive. The army cantonment here is home to the Bihar and Jharkhand Sub-Area Headquarters.
