Delhi, India’s administrative district is called the New Delhi district. New Delhi serves as its district headquarters. It is entirely a part of the Delhi megacity and is called after New Delhi, the capital of India, which is situated inside its boundaries. Although the district was established in 1997, the 2012 redrawing of the Delhi districts resulted in a substantial alteration to its boundaries.

The three municipalities that make up the National Capital Territory of Delhi—New Delhi, the Delhi Cantonment, and a portion of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi—are all included in the New Delhi district. It begins in the middle of Lutyens’ Delhi and extends all the way to Gurugram, which is located on the southwest edge of the NCT.
