Dang is a district located in Gujarat, a state in western India’s southeast. Ahwa is home to the district’s administrative headquarters. As of 2011, Dang’s population was 228,291 and its area was 1,764 km^. Out of the 33 districts in Gujarat, it has the least population as of 2011. Out of 640 districts in India, Dang is one of the most economically disadvantaged districts, according to the Planning Commission. One of the scheduled tribes comprises 94% of the population. The Government of India and the Dang monarchs came to an agreement in 1842, making the five monarchs of Dangs the only hereditary royals in India whose titles are still acknowledged by the state.
