In the northern Indian state of Haryana, Gurgaon (Hindi: [˥Ŋ̽ɡã˞w]), often referred to as Gurugram ([˥Ŋ̽ʊɥɾaːm]), is the administrative center and satellite city of Gurgaon district.It is located close to the boundary between Delhi and Haryana, roughly 30 km (19 mi) southwest of New Delhi, the capital of the country, and 268 km (167 mi) south of Chandigarh, the state capital. It is a significant Delhi satellite city and a component of India’s National Capital Region. Gurgaon’s population was 876,969 in 2011.
