Karnataka’s Ballari, originally known as Bellary (pronounced [ˈbəɭɭari]), is a significant district. It is situated in Karnataka’s northeastern region. This district is a part of Karnataka-Kalyana. Prior to the official division of Ballari district into the Vijayanagara district in 2021, this district was among the largest in Karnataka.

The largest iron ore resources in India are found in this district.

The Ballari district is known for its rich minerals, farmland, and historical landmarks. Ballari, the district capital, is referred to as Steel City and Gani Nadu (City of Mining), and it has recently made news due to its mining sector.
