Hubli, formally known as Hubballi, is a city in the state of Karnataka, India. The largest city in North Karnataka and the second largest by size and population in the state are the twin cities of Hubli and Dharwad Hubli is the taluk headquarters of Hubli City and Hubli Rural and is located in the Karnataka district of Dharwad. While the HDMC office is located there, Dharwad is home to the district headquarters.[6]

In addition, it has the greatest concentration of state government offices farthest from the capital Hubli-Dharwad was chosen for master plans for solar and green cities in 2016 The Indian government selected Hubli-Dharwad as part of its smart city project in 2017, which is a major initiative for the twin towns’ overall infrastructure development.
