In the Indian state of Karnataka, the city of Jamakhandi is located in the Bagalkot district. It served as the capital of the erstwhile Jamkhandi princely kingdom. It is ninety kilometers west of the district center. Due to the demand to create a district for Jamkhandi, it is the first princely state to join with the rest of constituent India. It is a district subdivision. The taluks of Jamakhandi, Bilagi, Rabakavi-Banahatti, Teradal, and Mudhol are included in the Jamakhandi subdivision.

The Krishna River flows close to the city. It is the district’s center for education. It was a princely state whose borders covered the modern-day Dharwar district’s Kundagol taluk.it is the education hub of the district.
