Neemuch is one of Madhya Pradesh’s 55 districts, located in central India. Neemuch serves as the district’s administrative headquarters.

Narendra Modi, the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, opened Asia’s largest solar power plant, the Welspun Solar MP project, which has been operational since February 2014 near Neemuch. It is a 151-megawatt photovoltaic power facility built on 305 hectares (750 acres) of land for 1100 crore rupees (about $182,000,000).

Neemuch District is part of Ujjain Division and had a population of 726,070 in 2001, increasing to 826,067 by 2011 Neemuch district is surrounded by Rajasthan state to the west and north, and Mandsaur district to the east and south.
