The district of Sagar is located in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. The administrative hub of the town is Sagar.

The district’s population, which increased by 732,260 people or 45% from 1,646,198 in 1991 to 2,378,458 in the 2011 census, lives on 10,252 km². Sagar district is primarily inhabited by Yadavs, Jains, and Sonis.

After Jabalpur and Indore, it is the third most populated district in Madhya Pradesh as of 2011.
