The largest district in the western Indian state of Maharashtra is Ahmednagar. The district’s administrative center is located in the historic city of Ahmednagar. Sangamner and Ahmednagar are the district’s two biggest cities. During the late medieval era, it served as the capital of the Ahmednagar Sultanate (1496–1636 CE). The towns of Shirdi, connected to Sai Baba, Meherabad, connected to Meher Baba, Shani Shinganapur, connected to Shanidev, and Devgad, connected to Lord Dattatreya, are the main draws in this district. The district of Ahmednagar is a part of Nashik Division. The districts of Aurangabad to the northeast, Nashik to the northwest, Thane and Pune to the southwest, Solapur to the south, and Beed to the southeast encircle the district.
