In the Pune district of Maharashtra, India, there is a municipal council and a hill station called Lonavala-Khandala. It is roughly 60 miles (96 km) east of Mumbai and 64 km (40 miles) west of Pune. It is a significant halt on the railway that runs between Mumbai and Pune, and it is well-known for producing the hard candy chikki. Local trains are available from Pune Junction from the suburbs of Pune. Lonavala is crossed by the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway.
