Northeastern India’s Manipur state has 16 districts, including Chandel district. Chandel, the town, is home to its headquarters. To create the new Tengnoupal district, a portion of the district was divided in December 2016. Nagas such Anal, Monsang, Maring, Tarao, Moyon, Lamkang, Chothe, and other tribal people like the Kuki people make up the majority of the district’s population.
