Father’s Day is a celebration of paternity, paternal bonds, and the impact of dads on society in addition to celebrating individual fathers. Similar festivities celebrating family members, including Mother’s Day and, in certain countries, Siblings Day and Grandparents’ Day, are complemented by this festival. The celebration of fatherhood is observed on different days around the globe, with each location keeping its unique customs.

Since the Middle Ages, March 19 has been observed as Saint Joseph’s Day in Catholic nations across Europe. Sonora Smart Dodd established Father’s Day in 1910 in the state of Washington in the United States. Father’s Day was deemed a public holiday in Italy until 1977, but it is now observed as such in Lithuania and several regions of Spain.
