In the western Indian state of Rajasthan is a district known as Jodhpur District. The district’s administrative center is located in the city of Jodhpur.

It is the second most populous district in Rajasthan (out of 33) as per the 2011 census, behind the district of Jaipur.

The Marwar region’s historic hub is Jodhpur. The region is home to Osiyan, the temple city of the Pratiharas, and Mandore, the former capital of the Pratihara Rajput monarchs from the sixth to the thirteenth century. Rao Jodha established Jodhpur in the fifteenth century, and it was the seat of the Rathore dynasty’s Marwar empire until 1947, when India gained her independence.
