In the Indian state of Sikkim, the Pakyong district contains the municipal town of Rangpo. The town is located near the Teesta and Rangpo rivers and borders the Kalimpong district of West Bengal. Sikkim’s first town is located on National Highway 10, which connects Siliguri and Gangtok. It has a subtropical climate and is located about 300 meters above sea level. This is the “Gateway to Sikkim,” and all cars must stop at the Rangpo Police checkpoint before entering the state. In order to enter Sikkim state, foreign visitors must provide their documentation at the police checkpoint.
