One of Tamil Nadu, India’s 38 districts (an administrative district) is Namakkal District. On July 25, 1996, the district split off from the Salem District, using Namakkal town as its headquarters. On January 1, 1997, the district began operating on its own. Tiruchengode, Namakkal, Rasipuram, Paramathi Velur, Sendamangalam, Kumarapalayam, Kolli Hills, and Mohanur are the eight taluks (subdivisions) of the district. Namakkal and Tiruchengode are its two revenue-generating divisions.
