About Tripura

One of India’s seven sister states to the northeast is Tripura. It is actually the third-smallest state in India, with a total area of 10,486 square kilometers.

Bangladesh encircles the state from the north, west, and south. It is bordered on the east by the states of Mizoram and Assam. This state’s capital is Agartala. The state’s population, according to the 2011 census, is 36,71,032. It makes up about 0.3% of the nation’s total population. The aboriginal groups referred to as Scheduled Tribes (ST) Thirty percent of Tripura’s population is Indian. The state is pollution-free, eco-friendly, and home to 19 tribes.

Bangla and Kokborok are the two languages that are most often spoken in this state. The Tripuri dynasty dominated this realm for many centuries. When under British authority, it was regarded as a princely state. It was incorporated into independent India in 1949. Since this state’s merger with India, there has been intermittent violence and tension due to the ethnic struggle and conflict between the indigenous population and the Bengali majority. However, the implementation of a separate tribal administrative structure and other tactics have defused the issue. The sole major route is National Highway 44.
