Shamli is one of the 403 members of the Indian Legislative Assembly for the state of Uttar Pradesh. It is one of the five assembly seats of the Kairana Lok Sabha constituency and a part of the Shamli district (Shamli was a part of Muzaffarnagar district until 2012). This assembly seat was created in 2008 as a result of the “Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly Constituencies Order, 2008,” and its first assembly election was held in 2012.
