The northern Indian state of Uttarakhand contains the district of Bageshwar. The district office is located in the town of Bageshwar. It was a part of Almora district before being established as a district in 1997.

Located in Kumaon, Bageshwar district is bordered to the west and northwest by Chamoli District, to the northeast and east by Pithoragarh District, and to the south by Almora District.
