In Uttarakhand, India’s Pauri Garhwal district, is the city and municipal corporation of Kotdwar. Pauri, the district headquarters, is about 101 miles away. It is Uttarakhand’s eighth-biggest city. Its previous name, “Kootdwar,” derives from the phrase “the gateway of the high hill koot as Chitra koot”[2], given that it is situated along the Khoh River.
