One of Kuwait’s six governorates is the Capital Governorate (Romanized: al-ʿĀṣima Gulf Arabic: il-ʿĀṣma), also known as Al Kuwayt. It includes many outlying islands, the industrial and port districts of Shuwaikh and Doha Port, and the historic center of Kuwait City.
