Central Nigeria is home to the Federal Capital entity (FCT), a federal entity. This region is home to Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja. Parts of the former states of Kaduna, Kwara, Niger, and Plateau states were combined to form the FCT in 1976[4], with the majority of the land mass coming from Niger state. The country’s North Central area includes the Federal Capital Territory. It is run by the Federal Capital Territory Administration, which is led by a minister that the president appoints, as opposed to other states in Nigeria where governors are elected.
