The Saudi Arabian province of Riyadh, often called the Riyadh Region, is situated at the geographic center of both the Arabian Peninsula and the nation. With a population of 8,591,748 in 2022, it will be the second-biggest region by area, after the Eastern Province, which will be the largest by population. Its area is 404,240 km2 (156,080 sq mi). With little less than two-thirds of the region’s population living in the city, Riyadh is the most populous city in both the province and the kingdom. As such, the province’s capital governorate is named after the capital of the kingdom.
