Serbia’s largest city and capital is Belgrade. It is situated at the meeting point of the Danube and Sava rivers, as well as the intersection of the Balkan Peninsula and the Pannonian Plain. The population of the Belgrade metropolitan region, as of the 2022 census, is 1,685,563. It is the third most populous city on the Danube and one of the largest cities in Southeast Europe.
