The canton of Zurich, also known as the Canton de Zurich in French, the Canton de Turitg in Romansh, and the Canton Zurigo in Italian, is a canton, or administrative division, in northeastern Switzerland. As of December 31, 2020, the population was at 1,553,423, making it the most populous canton in Switzerland. Despite not being expressly stated in the constitution, Zurich serves as the canton’s de facto capital. German is the official language. Züritüütsch, the regional dialect of Swiss German, is widely spoken.
