Idaho is a landlocked state in the Western United States’ Mountain West subregion. It has a minor border with the province of British Columbia to the north on the Canada–United States border. It shares boundaries with Nevada and Utah to the south, Washington and Oregon to the west, and Montana and Wyoming to the east. Boise is the largest and capital city of the state. 83,569 square miles (216,440 km2) makes up the land area of Idaho, making it the fourteenth largest state. It is the 7th least densely inhabited and 13th least populous state in the union, with 1.8 million people living there.
