Located in the United States’ West, Nevada is a landlocked state.[c] It shares boundaries with Utah to the east, Arizona to the southeast, California to the west, Idaho to the northeast, and Oregon to the northwest. Of all the states in the United States, Nevada is the seventh largest, the 32nd most populous, and the ninth least densely inhabited. Three of the four biggest incorporated cities in the state, as well as the Las Vegas–Paradise metropolitan area, are located in Clark County, home to over three-quarters of Nevada’s population[6].[7] Carson City serves as Nevada’s capital. The biggest city in the state is Las Vegas.

The official moniker of Nevada is the “Silver State” due to the metal’s significance to the state’s economy and history.
